Refreshing Spring Church of God in Christ was founded in 1977, in the City of Detroit, MI, by the late founder and Pastor Hazel McKay. In 1993, the Lord led then Minister Brown, to Refreshing Spring to server the Pastor. At this time the Lord knew the Pastor, who was in his early eighties, needed the support, love and encouragement via his servant Minister Brown.

The same year that Pastor Brown was obedient to the calling of the Lord, to return to the eastside of the City of Detroit  (the neighborhood were he was born and raised) to serve an older seasoned Pastor, the Lord elevated him to the level of an ordained Elder. While servicing Refreshing Spring he also served on the District level as President of the Youth Department, District Secretary, and President of the Sunday School Department. In addition, to serving the District, Elder Brown served the local church in the same capacities with all the love and joy of the Lord.

Pastor Brown possesses an AA degree in Police Administration from Oakland Community College; two BS degrees, one in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University, and the second one in Community Relations from Albion University. He did his theological studies together with Christian Counseling training at Urban Bible Institute and Andersonville Seminary, where he received a Masters in Christian Counseling (M.C.C.). He recently completed his second Masters of Arts (MA) in Licensed Professional Counseling (LPC) from Liberty University. He is working on his Ph.D. in Psychology (Counseling).
